Medeama SC continued their unbeaten start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with a 2-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars in a thrilling Matchweek 4 encounter at the CAM Park.
The first half provided little excitement as both sides struggled to capitalize on the few chances they created, leaving the scoreline goalless at halftime.
The deadlock was broken in the 57th minute when Medeama forward Mamudu Kamaradin found the back of the net, putting the visitors ahead.
However, Basake Holy Stars responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Issah Yakubu equalized, sending the home fans into a frenzy and reigniting hopes of a comeback.
But Medeama were quick to extinguish those hopes.
In the 62nd minute, Diawisie Taylor reclaimed the lead for the visitors. His goal proved decisive as Medeama held on to secure their third consecutive victory in the league.
With this win, Medeama now sit at the top of the table with 9 points from three games. They’ll aim to extend their winning run when they host Hearts of Lions in Tarkwa in their next fixture.
For newly promoted Basake Holy Stars, this marks their second consecutive defeat, leaving them 10th in the standings with 4 points from 4 games.
They’ll be hoping to bounce back when they travel to Tema to face Vision FC in their next match.
