Companies operating in Ghana's port and logistics sector are participating in the 2026 edition of the LCB Corporate Games, a 12-to-14-week sporting competition aimed at promoting physical activity and interaction among industry players.

The competition, now in its fifth year, brings together 16 corporate institutions from the port and logistics sector. It is being held across the Accra and Tema zones, with the leading teams from both zones expected to meet in a final to determine the overall winner.

The organisers say the event also provides employees of participating institutions with an opportunity to interact outside their usual work environment and build professional relationships through sport and recreation.

Among the participants is the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), which has entered two teams—the Fire Department and the Mechanical Department.

GPHA has been a regular participant in the competition alongside companies and institutions operating in Ghana's ports, shipping, freight and logistics sectors.

LCB's CSR initiative

The games are organised by LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited as part of its corporate social responsibility activities and efforts to engage stakeholders in the industry.

Philomena Ocloo, an official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the initiative also provides an opportunity for the company to create awareness about its work, particularly disinfection services.

“It is very necessary for us to give back to the community as we create awareness of what we literally do. Most of the time, people don't know what disinfection is all about, so as we undertake this particular project every year, it is a way of letting the society around us know that this is what we are into,” she said.

She said the annual event allows LCB Worldwide Ghana to engage with businesses in the sector while promoting physical activity and social interaction.

Focus on fitness and networking

Felix Segbaya, another official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the competition was also intended to encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen relationships among business partners.

“At the end of the day, it sends a signal to our business partners that we are not just about business. We're looking to promote good health and friendliness among ourselves. In a way, it has brought us together and improved the way we do business,” he said.

The tournament provides employees from institutions that regularly interact within the port and logistics sector with an opportunity to compete and socialise outside their usual professional engagements.

GH¢35,000 in prize money

The competition will continue with fixtures in Accra and Tema before the leading teams qualify for the final.

The overall winner will receive GH¢20,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive GH¢10,000 and GH¢5,000, respectively.

The tournament is expected to run for up to 14 weeks, with participating teams competing for places in the final.

The competition is expected to continue providing a platform for companies in the port and logistics sector to combine sporting activity with networking and employee engagement.
