280 Saudi doctors have joined their colleagues at the frontlines to battle against the novel coronavirus in France.
This was made known by the Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in France and Switzerland, Dr Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Thunayan.
Dr Fahd Al-Thunayan says the 280 Saudi doctors are under a scholarship program supported by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
He indicated that the initiative would be crucial in developing the doctors’ professional lives.
The services the doctors will render, Dr. Fahd says, will enhance the doctors’ readiness for effective work with dedication to face different types of crises in their line of duty.
Dr. Fahd added that Saudi doctors have been dispatched and have currently join hands with their colleague doctors to fight the deadly coronavirus in the United States of America, Britain, Germany and Switzerland.
This is a Saudi international effort to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the world.
Included also are 20 Saudi doctors also working in the Swiss Confederation.
The Cultural Attache has highly commended the Saudi doctors’ stance to help as it reflects the most remarkable feature of global solidarity at a very difficult time of the spread of virus that has become known as the biggest threat to humanity.
It would be recalled that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques rolled out several domestic and international initiatives to help curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The King has ordered free treatment for all COVID-19 patients including citizens, residents, and violators of residency regulation in all health facilities.
Dr Fahd observed that the fight against the Coronavirus by the Saudis “is not an individual or elite initiative developed by those great Saudi doctors, but rather a gesture reflecting the values, ethics and principles of our Saudi society,"
Saudi, he stressed, is the kingdom of Humanity.
Meanwhile, in a separate interview with the Saudi Embassy in Ghana it was revealed that many Umrah pilgrims of various nationalities who were unable to return to their countries are being catered for by the Saudi Kingdom.
