The bullet riddled-body of a mother of one, a 24-year old woman allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend, a Police Inspector with service rifle, had six bullet entry wounds and 7 exit wounds.
Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on April 20, 2023 after she was shot multiple times by her boyfriend, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, also known as Tycoon at about 7: 30p.m following a disagreement.
A postmortem examination conducted by two pathologists at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on April 27, 2023, however has identified six bullet entry wounds and 7 exit wounds found on the bullet-riddled body of the late Victoria Dapaah.
State Prosecutors told a Kumasi High court the deceased died of haemorrhagic shock due to multiple gunshot injuries. Pathologists concluded the manner of death as unnatural.
Six spent shells and a 9-millimetre service rifle allegedly used by the accused to commit the crime as well as a swab stick with blood samples obtained at the scene have been forwarded to the police forensic laboratory for examination, State Attorney, Efua Asrakubea Asante-Mante has told the court.
The court was also told reports on spent shells as well as that of the pistol have been received, but that of the blood is not yet ready.
The Police Inspector, Ahmed Twumasi, who is standing trial over the killing of his girlfriend at Adum in Kumasi, pleaded not guilty to murder charges before the Kumasi High Court.
His plea was taken for the first time when he made his second appearance before the court on Wednesday July 26, 2023.
It comes as a 7-member jury is constituted by the court for expeditious trial.
The High Court, on July 13, 2023, failed to take the plea of the accused person because his lawyers failed to show up in court.
The accused inspector brought to the court under heavy security escort of prison wardens, also contributed to the constitution of a jury for his trial.
Wednesday's hearing had few relatives of the deceased and journalists being allowed entry to the courtroom.
The State prosecutor informed the court of the preparedness of the Attorney-General's office to support the speedy adjudication of the case.
Her Lady Justice Rosemary Baah Tosu charged the 7-member jury to be firm and not to allow what they hear or read in the media to affect their impartiality, adding she would be available to sit on the case even during the Judiciary Service break.
Defense Counsel, led by Yahya Seidu, who did not raise objections to the A-G’s call for expeditious trial, also reminded the jurors to be neutral and impartial.
Meanwhile, the hearing has been adjourned to August 28, 2023 for a case management conference.
