There is tension in Yong in the Tamale Metropolis District of the Northern Region after a youth group visited the Buglana Palace to present a petition over the selection of a chief by the Dakpema.
The youth claim that Zama Chemsi who was enskinned three weeks ago is not the rightful heir to the throne.
According to Joy News’ Northern Region correspondent, Martina Bugri the ongoing dispute is between Zama Chemsi and Fuseini Chemsi who are stepbrothers and both are claiming a right to the throne.
Zama Chemsi, who is the eldest of the two, was accused by the protesting youth of bribing the Dakpema to enskin him.
The police on the scene dispersed the protesting youths to bring calm to the palace grounds after firing some warning shots.
Public Relations Officer of the Buglana Palace, Abdul Wahab Kamal said the elders of Buglana will meet with elders of Yong to find an amicable solution to the issue before it escalates.
One man was arrested but Mr Wahab Kamal assured the community that he will be released in due time.
