The Ghana Police Service has suspended all unofficial visits to police stations, offices and cells in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement signed by Public Affairs Director, Shiella Abayie-Buckman, frequent visits to the said venues may not be advisable during this period, therefore, visitors should adopt an alternative to contact police officers and cellmates.
“Call the official contact number of the Police Station or office (displayed around the premises).
“Calls to inmate are restricted to immediate family members, lawyers or such other disagreements persons.”
She also advised police officers to adhere to the preventive measures and keep a distance of one meter when dealing with people “unless the situation requires otherwise.”
Mrs Abayie-Buckman further gave the assurance that officers will continue to carry out the duties of maintaining law and order and preventing crimes in the country.
