The Medihelp West Europe-West Africa (WEWA), a health NGO has proffered solutions to the country as it battles Covid-19.
Frank Agyemang Prempeh the organisation's former Ghanaian nurse as its President disagrees with calls for a total lockdown in Ghana.
“Ghana isn’t like US, France, China, UK and others, that we can simply encourage a total shutdown,” he said.
He explained that, in Ghana, aside from the huge number of people who live from hand to mouth, most of them rely on public amenities like water, latrines, amongst others, which makes it difficult to enforce a lockdown.
According to him, the security personnel are even inadequate to enforce a nationwide lockdown.
Mr Prempeh said its prudent government chose a partial lockdown, where Accra and Kumasi will be shut down and stop or limit inter-regional travels.
The President of Medihelp concluded that government should continue educating the people to take precautionary measures, invest in Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
He also wants government to go the South Korean way of inculcating the habit of using face masks amongst the populace, which is one the most effective means to stop the spread.
Medihelp WEWA recently postponed its maiden Global SDG-3 Youth Summit in Ghana due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It's poised to offer health advice by it distinguish international health personnel to governments in an era of distress.
Ghana has recorded four more cases of Covid-19, the Ghana Health Service has said in its web updates.
According to the Service, as of Saturday, March 28, a total of 2,519 persons have been tested for coronavirus in Ghana.
