Multimedia Group’s Kumasi-based Luv FM, has reached out to underprivileged persons in some deprived communities, with food to cushion them from the impact of the lock-down.
Beneficiaries, mostly mothers, at Asafo, Ayigya and Akwatia Line Bombay were served hot meals, in addition to raw food tomato paste, canned fish and cooking oil.

The gesture was in response to a call by the Social Welfare Department, for support for head porters (Kayayei) and other street children who are unable to engage in economic activity due to anti-Covid-19 measures.
The Metro Director of Social Welfare, Esther Nyarko, bemoaned the plight of the head porters and street children who lived in small congested kiosks with their babies.

She said, “I wish I take you through where the 'Kayayei' are sleeping. A small kiosk and about 10 people are living in it with their babies. This has been their place of abode and they pay, and as for the food it has to trickle down.
“Food, water, toilet, it has to trickle down. So on this note, I’m appealing to benevolent organisations, NGOs all those who are ready to support, I mean your widow’s mite. Something small will save a life.”

Luv fm responded with an appeal for support which yielded positive results.
Speaking to David Akwerteh who is host of 'Luv in the Morning' on Luv FM, he expressed his satisfaction with the exercise and appealed to others to do same for the destitute in society.

“I’m excited to have been a part of this beautiful exercise giving them something to eat at least this morning, and I look forward to doing such things just to give them something to put smiles on their faces.
“There are others still in need of food during this lockdown, and your support will be welcome,” he said.
