The Premier League’s African representation has sprouted over the years with last season seeing three Africans - Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - share the golden boot.

However, before these three superstars reached the pinnacle, the foundation was laid by other African players who had graced the Premier League.

Over the years, African players have made their mark in the league with majority of them coming from Ghana and Nigeria.

The likes of Nwankwo Kanu, Yakubu Ayegbeni, Peter Odemwingie, Jay-Jay Okocha, Joseph Yobo and Victor Moses enjoyed prolonged fruitful spells in the league as they raised the flag of Nigeria high.

On the other hand, Ghana’s representatives such as Tony Yeboah, Michael Essien, Jeffrey Schlupp and Andre Ayew were the country's most consistent performers.

Any Ghana versus Nigeria competition, whether real or contrived, is an excuse for the two West African frenemies to have a pop at each other.

And now the internet has reacted to the latest instalment: a mythical matchup between Ghana and Nigeria's Premier League contingents.

Ghana XI: Richard Kingson - Jeffrey Schlupp, Daniel Amartey, John Mensah, John Paintsil - Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien, Alex Nyarko, Kevin-Prince Boateng - Andre Ayew, Tony Yeboah.

Nigeria XI: Carl Ikeme; Celestine Babayaro, Joseph Yobo, Danny Shittu, Victor Moses – Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel Obi, Jay-Jay Okocha -  Peter Odemwingie, Nwankwo Kanu, Yakubu Ayegbeni.

The idea is to assume the two lineups are facing off. Who wins?
