The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched what it calls a 'Corruption Tracker Series'.
Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s National Communications Director said the initiative will expose misappropriation and embezzlement of state funds in the Akufo-Addo government.
Speaking at a press briefing Monday, he noted that the Tracker will give the electorates enough evidence to realise the incumbent has done next to nothing in the corruption fight in the country.
“Through this initiative, we shall be taking the pinch one after the other to do a total recall of the numerous corruption scandals at recent times. And how President Akufo-Addo at all times has failed to protect the public purse,” he explained.
He added, “We shall also prove to the Ghanaian people that contrary to the self-acclaimed anti-corruption credentials, President Akufo-Addo is indeed the leader and chief patron of this notoriously corrupt administration.”
Touching on the importance of the initiative, Mr Gyamfi said it is the responsibility of the opposition to make government accountable for the financial and economic benefit of the country.
He admitted that corruption has impeded Ghana’s development for many years thus, affecting numerous vulnerable people in the society.
“The NDC is deeply worried about the fact that resources that otherwise should have gone into developmental projects, in order to uplift the poor are sadly going to lie in the pockets of several greedy and selfish individuals of the Akufo-Addo government.”
