The Volta Regional wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by its Chairman Makafui Kofi Woanya has rubbished claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the government has done very little as far as fulfillment of campaign promises is concerned.
At a press conference addressed on June 29, the Chairman described as ‘pick and choose’ the opposition’s approach to scoring achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government to satisfy propaganda purposes and bias judgement.
"In the first place we wish to state that as a party in government, we have resisted the temptation to either be distracted or seduced into an unnecessary and unproductive debate and propaganda war simply because we have the people's mandate to deliver,” Mr Woanya said.
He noted that the NDC does not appear to be a political party that must be taken seriously especially in the region. Where they claim is their world bank which have been taken for granted all this years by the NDC.
"It must be clear to the NDC that the people of the Volta Region are now discerning and can no longer be deceived by the NDC," he said.
The party also stated that when it comes to development projects in the region, the NDC have no moral right to question the performance government as the region’s support in that aspect is massive.
He explained that, projects the NDC say have been stalled including the Keta landing site and the new stadium are all at various stages of construction.
On the redeployment of the security to the border communities in the region, Mr Woanya noted that it has nothing to do with the voters’ registration but rather to beef up security and prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country with Covid-19
He, however, advised the NDC to stop what they say is needless propaganda and being mischievous but rather concentrate on the development of the region.
