Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor and some players have congratulated talented midfielder Kudus Mohammed after he completed his transfer to Ajax on Thursday.
Kudus has seen his fame skyrocketed in the past year. It started with his debut goal for the Black Stars against South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in 2019.
After that strike, he took his form to club level, making key contributions for Danish side Nordsjaelland in their league campaign. He scored 11 goals and assisted one in 25 Superligaen games this season.
The Dutch champions paid 9 million euros for the teenager’s services, making him the most expensive Ghanaian teenager in history.
He also ranks tenth as the most expensive Ghanaian signed by a European club since 2011.
The announcement of his transfer was well received by Akonnor, who took to Twitter to congratulate the highly-rated youngster.
Andre Ayew, captain of the senior national team, congratulated the former Right to Dream Academy player on Instagram, hinting that the move is just the beginning of his rise to stardom.
Mubarak Wakaso also shared his excitement at Kudus’ transfer on Twitter and wished him the best of luck.
Jonathan Mensah, Columbus Crew SC defender, joined in to wish Kudus well. He noted that he has made Ghana proud and added that he should keep shining.
Kudus is expected to join his new teammates in preparation for the new season.
