A ‘one-week’ commemoration service for former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, is currently ongoing at Sakrawono in the Ashanti Region.
Until his death, Sir John was the CEO of the Forestry Commission.
A number of party bigwigs and other political leaders from the opposition NDC are expected to be at the commemoration.
Sir John is alleged to have died in Accra after testing positive for Covid-19.
Sources say he succumbed to complications of the disease while undergoing treatment at the ICU of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
