The Chairman of Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing Board, Dr Kwame Baah Nuakoh, has disclosed that his outfit can withdraw licenses of clubs during the course of the season if they detect non-compliance of their regulations.
During the course of the cancelled 2019-20 season, Liberty Professionals saw their license revoked for a certain period after it was discovered that their stadium, the Carl Reindorf Park, failed to meet the requirements of the board.
Three snakes were killed during a match against Hearts of Oak at the venue, leading to a temporary change of stadiums for Liberty Professionals.
Dr. Nuakoh says that going against some other regulations can lead to similar penalties.
"There are certain requirements including payments of SSNIT contributions of players and taxes and all those things. If we give you a license, we require that you conform to the Companies Act. If during the season, we have cause to believe that you are breaching the terms of your license, the board has every power to withdraw your license," he told Nathaniel Attoh on Saturday's Joy Sports Link.
"If we withdraw your license, you are automatically kicked out of the league. Look at Liberty Professionals and the problems they had with snakes at the stadium. We withdrew their license until they were able to correct it."
The Joy Sports Link airs every Saturday on Joy FM at 12:15pm.
