Hours after secessionists launched an attack on the Aveyime and Mepe Police stations in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region; social media has been buzzing with comments.
The men believed to be members of the Western Togoland secession group on Friday forcibly took over both stations simultaneously, overpowered the police officers, broke into the armoury, and made away with all the weapons.
Meanwhile, citizens have taken to twitter to express concerns on the matter.
This Western Togoland thing is getting out of hand. I don't see any oppression in that part of the country to warrant this need for secession.

It's clear that the Western Togoland secessionist group have a reliable source of funding, as they continue their activities.
Ghana must find and cut these funds now. pic.twitter.com/pLdTH1JUfz— Maiestas Ⓜ️ (@Ebenezer_Peegah) September 25, 2020
The people are crying to be handed over the Western Togoland because of neglect and Actions of this government by seeing some people and tribe as more Ghanaians than other. I don’t mind us being independent. That is if we the people of volta region have a genuine case and we pass the right channels. Na this western togoland thing is a big no no for me. This thing breeds war.
