Running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s flagbearer says the next NDC government will focus on building human capacity in the country.
Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang said the party believes that human resource is the greatest asset any country has.
"If the country wants to attain economic development - let's say in the next 20 years - it will require the efforts of the people living in the country," she said.
Speaking to Adehye FM, she added that no country has ever developed without improving on its human resource.
She stated that, despite having all the natural resources, i.e gold, timber, and others it will require the efforts of the people living in the country to ensure that these resources are put to good use.
"So what we will be looking at is how to improve upon the lives of the people in the country," she said adding that this informed part of Mahama's decision to convert Polytechnics to Technical Universities in 2013.
She also reiterated the next Mahama government's commitment to ensuring that Technical and Vocational Education and Training is prioritised.
Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang added that students will be equipped with knowledge on how to process raw materials into finished products.
This, she said, will cut down on the rate of importing finished products from other countries.
