Newly appointed Ghana Football Association (GFA) technical director, Bernhard Lippert has revealed his prime priority is to spot talents across the country.
Lippert believes the way forward to produce proficient players for the various national team levels is talent identification of talents at the grassroots level.
Until recently, the juvenile football system has been the backbone of the success story enjoyed by Ghana football.
The system produced prominent players such as Abedi Pele, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan who all played at the highest level including, the FIFA World Cup.
However, since the success of the Black Stars in the mid-2000s, there seem to be a switch in attention to the apex to the neglect of grassroots football.
Newly appointed technical director of the Ghana Football Association, Bernhard Lippert is keen on redirecting focus to youth football.
"There are a lot of department parts which has to be developed. It starts with children in school, grassroot football. It must be better organized. Football in schools, more festivals and we have to bring out the best talents between 10 to 14 years", he told Ghana FA media.
"We need an early talent identification and so we have to define the most talented children within this age and train them in a holistic way to find out the best talent. We have to also write down programs for all youth national teams to develop them step by step and if we follow this way, I am sure we will be successful." Lippert concluded.
The 58-year-old added that, identifying and creating a football philosophy that will permeate through the various national teams is equally vital.
The German was appointed by the GFA earlier this month, taking over from Francis Oti Akenteng who exited the job in March.
