Deputy Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA) has questioned the basis for which former President John Mahama is bidding for the mantle to lead the country in the upcoming polls.
According to Prince Ofosu Sefah, the opportunity afforded the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was has been squandered and there for must be voted against in the December elections.
In a statement, the President of the Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG) indicated that “it is a known fact that John Mahama is the most privileged politician in the history of Ghana politics. He has been an assembly member, Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President and President.
"After having had all these privileges and mismanaging the economy, I asked myself what again is he seeking power for.”
Mr Sefa believes that the unpopular policies undertaken by the erstwhile administration contributed to their loss of power to the incumbent New Patriotic Party in 2016.
“Under John Mahama, nursing trainee allowances were cancelled, teacher trainee allowances were cancelled, we had a ‘Dumsor’ economy which collapsed several businesses, there was an Unemployed Graduate Association of Ghana. Inflation was on the rise and Ghanaians were suffering,” he explained.
He, however, entreated Ghanaians to vote for the NPP led by President Akufo-Addo to enable the transformation needed in the country.
He explained that with initiatives such as the Free SHS programme, Nation Builders Corps, Planting for Food and Jobs among others, it is evident that the President has the nation’s development at heart adding that “with these unprecedented achievements, what is Mahama coming to do?”
