Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Constituency says the comment made by the Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) is in "bad taste".
"His comments were extremely in bad taste especially for an elected official of the NDC who should have measured even in his anger in communicating to the Ghanaian public and the party how unhappy he has been."
Sammy Gyamfi's comments according to Ras Mubarak were "unguarded" and should not be encouraged or entertained.
The Communications Officer on Thursday took to his Facebook account accusing the Speaker of Parliament and the leadership of the NDC caucus of betraying the party after the House voted to approve all the nominees vetted for ministerial positions.
The Facebook post read, "Comrades, the betrayal we have suffered in the hands of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, the leadership of our Parliamentary group, particularly Hon. Haruna Iddrissu and Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, and dozens of our own MPs, is what strengthens me to work hard for the great NDC to regain power.”
The General Secretary among other party officials in an emergency meeting urged its members to vote against some of the nominees, particularly those with security portfolios.
But that didn’t happen. All nominees presented before Parliament were approved by a majority vote.
In an interview with JoyNews' Benjamin Akakpo, the former legislature expressed his disappointment in the NDC MPs who voted for the nominees.
However, he noted that he does not condone the attacks on the Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Whip and the NDC MPs.
"21 of them who decided to vote for Hawa Koomson for me was most shocking to say the least and that is why I feel personally that there must have been some leadership failure.
"What I do not endorse is the kinds of personal attacks that have been unleashed on the Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament on the Minority Leader of Parliament and the Minority Chief Whip."
Mr Mubarak further added that although everyone is entitled to criticize the actions of its party leaders it should, however, be done in a way that would not dent the hard-earned reputation of its leaders.
"We are stakeholders in the NDC, the NDC is like a football club. If you have a football club that is winning and all of a sudden its not winning, the supporters of the football club have every right to be unhappy and express their unhappiness about the non-performance of the club. But that should not lead to the insult that we have heard unleased on the Speaker of Parliament and others."
Ras Mubarak further intimated that Sammy Gyamfi's post was inappropriate and hopes therefore that in the spirit of good faith, "he will offer some form of apology to the speaker, the Chief Whip and the NDC MPs for the attack on their reputation".
