The Kasoa Divisional Police Command has commenced investigations into the gruesome murder of 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah who was allegedly killed by two young boys for rituals.
According to Deputy PRO of the Ghana Police, Sergeant Evans Enttiee, both suspects, Felix Nyarko,16, and Nicholas Kene, 17, are in police custody and will offer a statement as part of the ongoing investigation process to give an account of the event to assist the Police in its interrogation.
The suspects were apprehended on Saturday, April 3, after residents of Kasoa Lamptey notified the Police of the sad incident surrounding the death of Ishmael.
According to the residents, the two suspects admitted killing the 11-year-old boy for ritual purposes so they can make quick money.
The information has since been passed on to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command.
One of the suspect’s father, Kwame Nyarko told AdomNews, his son was not in cahoots with the other suspect in the death of the juvenile.
He noted that Ishmael was hit on the head with a stick by the other suspect.
But according to Sergeant Evans Enttiee, ongoing investigations reveal that the two suspects had planned to take the body of the deceased for rituals on Saturday evening.
Mother of the deceased, Hajia Maame Sahadatu, who was devastated and heart broken revealed that her son was engaged in video games the last time she saw him alive.
She indicated that news regarding her son's death was broken to her by Ishmael's elder sister while she was taking a nap.
According to Madam Sahadatu, the news came as a surprise to her because the two suspects have dined and drank with the family and are not strangers.
Meanwhile, peeved residents of Kasoa Lamptey have threatened the lives of the two suspects should they be granted bail by the Kasoa Police after orchestrating such a hideous crime.
The remains of Ishmael Mensah have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
Again, Deputy PRO of the Ghana Police, Sergeant Evans Enttiee has urged the general public with information on the death of Ishmael to visit the Kosoa Police station to assist ongoing investigations.
