Africa Regional Chairman for International Scout and Guide Fellowship (ISGF) has urged members of Ghana's scouting community to positively influence scouting ideals in people's lives.
Iddrisu Hussein encourages members of the Fellowship to make good use of their moral and mental formations to respond meaningfully to communities' challenges.
Speaking to JoyNews, Mr. Hussein said that the leadership of ISGF is trying to model the scout to become defined character citizens.
He explained that mentally, one becomes discipline and physically, one becomes stronger, "that's the secret of good citizens."
Mr. Hussein was speaking to JoyNews after inaugurating a local scouts and guides fellowship (LSGF) branch at Al-Rahman Islamic Educational complex at Old Tafo Municipality in the Ashanti region.
He stated that his powers to represent 10 national Scouts and guides fellowships (NSGFs) and fifteen 15 central branches (CB) in Africa will be incomplete if he doesn't transform the scout community in Ghana and beyond.
"It is our hope that they revive ISGF in the Ashanti region," adding that there is the need for them to educate and understand the role of scout in their lives.
Ashanti Regional Commissioner for Scout, Mush Ibrahim said he hopes to reorganize the scout in the region and train more young people to become responsible citizens.
ISGF is a takeover organization from the youth movements (mainstream scouting) since its members cannot be younger than 25 years old.
It is based on the Scout/Guide ideals to assist its members render service to their communities, promote continuous personal development, and support Scouting and Guiding on a world, national and local level.
Established in 1953, ISGF has National Scout and Guide Fellowships in 66 countries. It is also represented in 38 countries with members of Central Branch.
