Co-Chair of Citizens Movement Against Corruption, Edem Senanu has stated that he is not convinced about Kissi Agyebeng’s capacity to successfully run the Office of Special Prosecutor.
He said the Attorney General’s nominee has nothing to show as far as managing an office of this stature is concerned despite his rich expertise in other fields of work.
Speaking on JoyNews' AM Show Tuesday, the anti-graft campaigner mentioned that the government has not adequately demonstrated Mr Agyebeng's ability to fight corruption per the demands of Subsection 2 of Article 595 of the 1992 Constitution.
"I am unconvinced and uncertain about Mr Kissi Agyebeng until I have received further and better particulars relevant to the office of a Special Prosecutor. He has indeed made relevant achievements but this is a unique space and there is something additional that I am looking for,” he told Benjamin Akakpo.
He said the Special Prosecutor role takes much more than just knowing the teachings of criminal laws or handling a few cases, an area the anti-graft campaigner admits the nominee is well versed in.
Meanwhile former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini has rendered the Attorney General's nominee for the Special Prosecutor's position as too young to fight against corruption.
Kissi Agyebeng is a legal practitioner and Chairman of the Electronic Communications Tribunal. He was earmarked to replace Martin Amidu as the next Special Prosecutor.
