The media umbrella body, Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Tuesday held a ceremony to mark the 2021 edition of the World Press Freedom Day at its Headquarters in Accra.
World Press Freedom Day is observed every year on May 3 to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom, and to defend the media from attacks on their independence.
The event which was under the Theme, '30 years Windhoek Declaration; Information as Public Good was addressed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; his Deputy Fatimatu Abubakar, USA Ambassador to Ghana Stephany Sullivan, Ronald Strikker and United Nations; Resident Coordinator in Ghana Charles Abani.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the National Media Commission Dr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo charged journalists to be responsible to synchronise with press freedom.
He said freedom of expression goes with responsibility.
Dr Boadu advised media personnel to publish rejoinders when they go wrong.
