Agartha Tiwaa, a 55-year-old has been accused of allegedly killing her elder sister in Berekum West District of the Bono Region.
Reports reaching JoyNews reveal that Yaa Aworo was butchered in a farm at Mantukwa on Tuesday after a dispute broke between the two sisters.
An eyewitness, Hinneh Kwasi who spoke to AdomNews Correspondent, Dominic Donyina revealed that the suspect approached him on his way home stating that Yaa Aworo was lying unconscious on the ground.
According to him, upon arrival at the scene, the victim had already passed away.
Granddaughter of the deceased, Gifty Agyeiwaa, who expressed deep sorrow said she was informed of her grandmother’s death via phone in the evening.
She also indicated that the two sisters had engaged in several arguments over the farmland which resulted in Yaa Aworo sustaining several injuries to the head with a knife.
“I left the farm and came home around 4 pm. Then I received a call that my grand mum and her sister had a fight and has been killed. So I went to the farm and behold, she was lifeless on the ground.
"Her younger sister in an earlier fight cut the head of my grand mum with a knife. The last time they also argued at the farm, they only exchanged words and return home,” she said.
Meanwhile, the bereaved family is requesting that the accused be sentenced to life imprisonment.
“We are pleading that she is giving life imprisonment so she doesn’t come out again. It will help the family move on from this incident otherwise, it won’t be easy for us. So we pleading with the police and the court,” they stated.
