Former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Dr Stephen Amoah, says almost all the vehicles abandoned for years, at a national security installation in Accra, have been released for various purposes.
Over 300 vehicles comprising buses and saloon cars were left to rot for years due to claims of inflation of prices leading to the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) rejecting them.
"We are not having any of the ones that are getting rotten except those with factory defects. In fact, before I left, that was the situation," he told Emefa Apawu.
A Citi FM journalist who had gone to verify whether these vehicles were still at the premises of the national security, was arrested when operatives saw him taking videos.
But speaking on Joy FM’s Midday News, the former MASLOC boss said about 90% of the vehicles had been put to productive use at the time was leaving office.
About 12 of the vehicles, which he said had developed critical faults, are the only fleet remaining at the National Security premises.
"Just about 12 of the Spark Lite were having factory defects - problems with the engine. Apart from that, all of them were released," the Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament added.
Meanwhile, the Citi FM journalist, Caleb Kudah has been released from the grips of National Security operatives.
He was released Tuesday night, hours after he was picked up by the operatives.
