The police in Amasaman has stopped a robbery and arrested one out of four suspects who attempted to ransack the Melcom store there.
Twenty-two-year-old Richard Essilfie was arrested after injuring himself trying to escape.
According to the police, at 2:43 am Wednesday, police received a distress call from an anonymous tip that thieves had broken into the Amasaman Melcom.
The patrol team within the jurisdiction responded immediately and got to the said location on time while the robbery was still ongoing.
However, the police were able to arrest only Richard, who intended to escape by jumping from the first floor of the shopping mall to the ground.
He sustained injuries on his left hand and right leg which made it difficult for him to carry on with his escape plan.
Richard was sent to the hospital for treatment and is currently admitted on police arrest.
The other three accomplices are on the run and efforts are underway to get them arrested.
