The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says come 2024, the party will claim a majority of the Western Region’s parliamentary seats and Presidential votes.
He said this at a durbar with NDC supporters in Prestea as part of former President John Mahama’s Thank You tour in the Western Region.
He stated that the alleged rigging and oversights which had resulted in the Akufo-Addo-led administration retaining the presidency will not be experienced a second time in the 2024 elections.
“The NPP should stand firm because no matter what, we’re taking the region and will put our stamp on it,” he stressed.
The outspoken scribe also advised the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission to stand firm.
According to him, if not for the ‘bad work’ done by the EC in the 2020 elections, the NDC could have been in power.
“The Electoral Commission too should stand firm because of the bad work they have come to do. Because we say we want peace in this country we have let it slide, but let them hear that it shall not happen again,” he said.
The 2020 flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama has been touring the Western Region thanking the Chiefs and people for their support in the 2020 general elections.
