The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman has assured Ghanaians and people in the Diaspora who have plans of spending Christmas in Ghana of a memorable holiday.
Speaking to HitzFM, at the 16th edition of the Ghana Tourism Awards, he mentioned that the Authority has ensured that everything goes smoothly with the help of other agencies and organizations including event organisers as well as the Ghana Health Service.
"It’s been a lot of work with other stakeholders. Last week we met with the Ghana Police Service, Fire Service, Immigration and the National Security. Security considerations are quite high for us.
He also disclosed that the Authority has been engaging with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) over how to properly enforce the Covid-19 protocols.
"So far with the discussions we have had with event organizers, we know everything is going to go according to plan."
Mr. Akwasi Agyeman mentioned that he is optimistic that the Christmas festivities is going to be a medium for job creation.
"We have started seeing the numbers coming in. Hoteliers are telling us that the bookings are coming in and so we are very positive that we are going to have a very strong push to the end of the year."
Over the weekend, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture held its 2020 National Tourism Awards to recognize excellence in the tourism sector.
The 16th edition of the awards ceremony was under the theme: ‘Stronger Partnership for Inclusive Tourism Growth’.
It aimed to reward impactful contribution to the tourism sector, encourage stronger rebound of tourism in Ghana and to build relationship between the Authority and its stakeholders who have distinguished themselves and advanced the course of the industry, especially in the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
