Member of Parliament for Korley Klottey Constituency, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has called on the elderly in her Constituency to take deliberate steps to impact the youth positively, so that the peace being enjoyed in the country would be maintained.
Speaking at an event for the elderly in her Constituency, the MP noted, "the peace and stability we enjoy as a nation did not happen by chance. It took a lot of work and dedication of the citizens of the country to bring it to this point. Therefore, the elderly that have that institutional memory, has a duty to educate and enlighten the younger generation to let them know where we've come from."
Madam Agyeman-Rawlings reminded the aged of the painful realities of the dark days of instability and military coup in Ghana and noted that it is for this reason why the country cannot afford to use violence in settling differences.
"You don't have to abuse an adult to disagree with them, but to find ways of engaging in dialogue and mediation with regards to how we solve our issues," she emphasised.
The MP further noted, "we should remember that we all have been trained in a certain way where we have respect for our elders and let that translate to our politics. We seem to have a disconnect when it comes to our training with regards to how we treat people and the orientation of the paradigm we have when it comes to politics."
