Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Tony Aubynn has vouched for Dortmund scout trainer Otto Addo to be given the Black Stars coaching job.
The position became vacant after Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac was shown the exit door following an underwhelming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tourney.
Addo and former Newcastle United gaffer Chris Hughton are frontrunners for the role.
JoySports understands the Ex- Ghana international is a preferred choice of the FA while the government’s choice is the 63-year-old Irish-Ghanaian football trainer.
The issue suggests the two parties are at loggerheads regarding who takes the hot seat but the Board Chairman for Medeama SC was quick to dispute that.
"There is no contest between the government and GFA. Obviously, GFA cannot fight or compete with the government," Dr. Aubynn made it clear on PM Express on the Joy News channel.
"What we are looking for is a coach and if it turns out that coach will be someone who has been the assistant coach and who has interacted with the players in the past especially for our game with Nigeria,".
"In my view, if Otto Addo agrees to come especially because of the immediate challenge we have, I have no problem with that,"
Joy Sports can report Otto Addo has expressed his willingness to manage the Black Stars after holding talks with the GFA. The country's football governing body is expected to convince Dortmund for a possible departure of the 46-year-old.
