Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, popularly known as ‘Asabeee’ says his campaign at the grassroots level vindicate his hopes of winning the national chairmanship position.
Asabeee, in a yet-to-be aired interview on Personality Profile, Thursday, noted that so far, his message to the NPP delegates has gone down well.
The former Director-General of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) stressed that he is happy with the positive response from the delegates so far.
“I have taken my message to the grounds and that’s the beauty of politics. It is not staying at one place and talking. You ought to go talk to people and stay with them and then you begin to know what they feel.
“So far, the message is sinking and I am happy that the responses are positive…I am happy, I think the indications are that, I am on the right track,” he told Lexis Bill.
According to him, his ambition to become the party’s national chairman is to re-organise the structure of the party to enable it to be formidable.
Asabeee believes that currently, all is not rosy with the New Patriotic Party, stressing that the members of the party are not happy with the leadership.
“Right now, the situation we are in, its not a flagbearer matter for me. It is the party’s structure. There is an organization that we have to put together to be able to stand as a team and work together, and as I sit here now, I can tell you that all is not rosy, our people are not happy with us.
“They believe that we have not reached them the way they wanted it, we tried to explain that yes we have done fantastic work but we had Covid, which really knocked us off a bit and so the speed in which we were going has slowed down, but of course, when people are angry they do not care whether Covid or not,” he noted.

Stephen Asamoah Boateng is a former Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman West Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.
He was appointed by President Akufo-Addo as the Executive Chairman of the State Enterprise Committee in 2017. He has served the state on various committees.
Prior to announcing his decision to contest for the chairmanship position, Asabee was Director-General of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA).
