Gospel artiste Diana Antwi Hamilton is urging Ghanaians to take pride in their national heritage and consciously patronise Ghanaian businesses.

This is in a bid to project Africa, create jobs and grow small and medium-scale enterprises.

Diana Antwi Hamilton was speaking to Joy News at a ceremony to officially sign her up as a brand ambassador for Property Electronics.

The event was to sign up popular gospel songstress Diana Hamilton to promote the Property Electronics chain of brands.

The Ghanaian-based indigenous business giant has been trading in home appliances.

The move aligns with the government's push for high patronage of indigenous Ghanaian businesses.

The singer called for investment in Ghanaian manufacturing businesses at the signing ceremony to promote industrialisation.

“As a Ghanaian, you should take pride in what you have. It will make these companies grow. You will as well feel proud of using something home-grown.

"Everyone knows I do all my things to promote African culture. We believe in longevity, consistency and hard work that pays. This is what Property Electronics is doing,” she said.

Head of Enterprise at Stanbic Bank, Eric Tsiri, called for more investment into the private sector.

He pledged Stanbic's support to the growth of Ghanaian private businesses.

“What Tonisac has demonstrated here shows the needed support; business can have a wider reach. We are happy as Stanbic Bank to be part of this journey. This is the testament to the saying that ‘Africa Is Our Home’,” he said.

Traders have been expressing fear over businesses collapsing in their early stages.

President of the Traders Advocacy Group, David Kojo Amoateng, called for tax waivers for local businesses to thrive.

“These are the businesses the Ghana Revenue Authority should assist. When a five-year tax holiday is given, imagine the amount of money saved. The more the company saves, the more it will use the money saved to expand. The more the business grows, the more it will employ others.

“We entreat the government to give tax holidays to businesses like Tonisac. There should be a little flexibility for them to operate. Once he is an indigenous Ghanaian, I believe we should help him,” he advised.

Brand Ambassador for Property Electronics and Home Appliances, Diana Antwi Hamilton, is hopeful that employment opportunities will be created as local businesses grow.

“The people of Ghana should project up-and-coming businesses. This will help them to employ more. It will give people the chance to enter into production more,” she advised
