The United States of America Ambassador has commended Ghana for its peace and security and the role it continues to play in ensuring peace and security in the country and the sub-region.
Virginia Palmer said this when she paid a courtesy call on the Interior Minister Ambrose Dery at his office in Accra on Wednesday to introduce herself and discuss matters of bilateral interest between the two countries.

The Nandom MP warmly welcomed the Ambassador and thanked her for the visit.
He noted that the bilateral relationship between Ghana and the United States of America dates back to Ghana’s independence.
Mr Dery state that there is a need to improve and collaborate further for the benefit of the good people of the two countries.
He noted that Ghana was the first country in the world to accept Peace Corps Volunteers and that this shows the relationship between the two countries.

The Interior Minister said the two countries will continue to collaborate to increase the effectiveness of the American and Ghanaian governments in responding to international threats such as trafficking and terrorism.
He assured the Ambassador of the Ministry’s constant maintenance of peace and security in the country.
Mr Dery said his doors are always open for any further discussion that fosters business, trading and security.
Mrs Palmer thanked the Minister for the warm reception.
