Former Asante Kotoko captain, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu, has signed for Iraqi Premier League side Al Talaba SC.
The defender joins Al Talaba on a free transfer after leaving the Porcupine Warriors at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Ganiyu has signed a one-year contract with an option of renewal with the Al Shaab Stadium outfit after parting ways with Kotoko last month.
After the Iraqi Premier League in 2021–2022, Al Talaba SC came in third place.
Kotoko's management and the 26-year-old came to an agreement to mutually terminate his contract for an undisclosed cause.
He started the pre-season with the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League champions, but he was eventually left out of the list of travellers for the club's tour in Sudan.
Prior to terminating his contract, Kotoko announced its decision to strip him of the captaincy duties with Richard Boadu replacing him.
