The first thing that comes to the mind of every tertiary student in the final year is where they will undertake their national service assignment.
In accordance with the National Service Act, 1980 (Act 426), the National Service programme is a compulsory one-year service required of all citizens of Ghana who are 18 years and above, at the time of deployment.
Sixteen years ago, the MP for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George completed the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural engineering (soil & water engineering) and had to render his service to the state.
Fortunately for him, he did not have to struggle to get good placement as he was posted to the office of the then Vice President, Aliu Mahama.
Sam George made this disclosure on Joy FM’s Personality Profile on Thursday.
“When I did my national service, I was posted to the office of Vice president Aliu Mahama in 2007.
“We had to do a security screening and that form, they ask you what your political affiliation is, I wrote NDC, because that was my political affiliation,” he said.
As to how long he lasted he said “I go do my job, I fini wey I leave [SIC],” he added.
The Ningo Prampram MP said that his family members have always been members of the NDC, hence he could not hide it.
“I knew the family was largely NDC, my father’s uncle was the first chairman of the NDC in Ningo- Prampram, Chairman Aboah,” he recalled.
