Brighton & Hove Albion and Ajax have agreed a deal in principle to sign Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus, per a report by the Athletic.
The fee involved is expected to be around 40 million euros for the 23-year-old, which would be a club record fee if the deal goes through.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein says the deal is not done yet but it is at an advanced stage that could be finalised in the coming days.
The Black Stars attacking midfielder is said to be close to agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club.
Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly pushed for the transfer of Mohammed Kudus because he views him as a key target.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate is also linked with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund.
Kudus is under contract at Ajax until 2025 but rejected a one-year extension in April and is keen to leave the Johan Cruyff Arena.
He has spent three seasons in Amsterdam, scoring 16 goals in 63 Eredivisie matches. He has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Ghana, including two at the 2022 World Cup in the 3-2 group-stage win over South Korea.
