Premier League side West Ham United have opened initial talks to sign Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, positive talks have been held with the player's camp over a potential deal though West Ham are yet to reach out to Ajax.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Dutch Eredivisie side this summer with Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion all showing interest.
The Seagulls were said to have reached an agreement with Ajax but an agreement with the player has been the missing piece in any possible deal.
The latest report now indicates West Ham have joined the race and have already held talks with the player but any deal will depend on Lucas Paqueta joining Manchester City in the coming days.
West Ham turned down Man City's first offer for the Brazilian midfielder but the Premier League champions are expected to return with an improved offer.
Kudus was on target in Ajax's first game of the season as they beat Heracles Almelo 4-1 at home. The budding youngster also won the penalty for the club's fourth goal of the game.
