The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) says the results of the New Patriotic Party's Super Delegates Conference is an indication that the delegates would prefer Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer of the party.
Mr. Sammi Awuku says the Vice President's victory is the encouragement the campaign team needs to work harder to also win the party's primaries come November 4.
Speaking to JoyNews, Mr Awuku said “The base of our party, the very rank and file of our party, they are giving an indication as to what they want to do come November."
He explained that every department of the NPP voted through their various representatives in the election that took place, hence the justification of his remarks that the results of the super delegates “gives a strong indication as to the direction the party wants to go.”
Mr Awuku further expressed his elation at Dr Bawumia's victory in the Super Delegates elections, adding that he regarded the outcome of the results as a reward and a testament to the hard work of the campaign team.
Taking Saturday's polls into account, he stated that the result has encouraged the Bawumia team to work harder for the primaries come November 4.
Mr Awuku urged party supporters, irrespective of their preferred candidate, to put aside their differences and unite towards NPP's victory in the 2024 elections.
“Let me use your platform to call on all supporters of Dr Bawumia that this is a family contest. It’s not the time for you to rundown your colleague, your brother or somebody who supported another candidate.
“We still have to once again come together even after November 4, to work as a team to deliver victory in 2024 December.
“Our biggest opponent is the NDC, not amongst ourselves. And that gives me the joy and the hope that with one united front after the primaries and the whole of these primaries done, we have our work cut out for us.”
