Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, has urged the Black Stars to win the hearts of Ghanaians.
He said this after the team’s final training session ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Central African Republic today, Thursday.
Appiah believes the players are ready for the crucial game that will determine if Ghana will qualify for the AFCON.
“You guys know the assignment already. Tomorrow is the last game to qualify for AFCON. And I know that you are ready, I can see. You have to win the hearts of the fans. That’s the most important thing,” Appiah said.
Ghana will host the Central Africa Republic in their final Group E game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 7, 2023, with kick-off at 4 pm - Ghana time.
Chris Hughton’s team leads Group E with nine points, a point ahead of Angola and two above the Central Africa Republic. Madagascar is bottom of the group with two points.
The Black Stars need a point from the game to book qualification for the tournament to be held in Ivory Coast next January.
