MTN FA Cup champions Dreams FC picked up a vital win in the group stage of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, defeating Nigeria's Rivers United 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The Dawu-based side bounced back to winning ways after they were defeated 2-0 by Tunisia's Club Africain in their first group game.
John Antwi grabbed the opening goal for Dreams in the 35th minute before youngster Abdul Aziz Issah added the second 15 minutes away from the full-time whistle.
The Nigerians equalised in the dying minutes of the game as Alex Oyowah halved the deficit on their visit to Kumasi.
Dreams FC, following the win on Sunday, have three points after two games played same as their opposition from Nigeria who have a better goal difference.
On December 10, Dreams will play Academia Petroleos do Lobito of Angola.
