The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has emerged victorious in the parliamentary primary for the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency.
Annoh-Dompreh secured a total of 734 votes, while his contender, Hayford Siaw, the CEO of the Ghana Library Authority, garnered 228 votes.
Leading up to the primary, Annoh-Dompreh expressed confidence in securing a resounding victory, aiming to retain the Nsawam Adoagyiri seat with over 80 percent of the total votes.
He emphasised his intention to teach Siaw a political lesson that would be memorable.
If you look at the turnout, it is impressive. I didn’t have any difficulty. Even though they wanted to give me some courtesy, I resisted it because I wanted to go through the queue and the process. I think it has been smooth, no hitches so far.”
In a related development, the Member of Parliament for Adansi-Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, emerged victorious in the primary against Samuel Binfoh Darkwa.
Mr Hammond secured the win with 311 votes, while Binfoh Darkwa polled 125 votes.
Leading up to the polls, Hammond alleged that Binfoh Darkwa had hired thugs to intimidate his supporters, a claim that was refuted by his contender.
In the Ablekuma West constituency, incumbent MP and Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, secured victory in the primary with 817 votes, defeating her contender Roni Paa Kwesi Nicol, who polled 241 votes. Additionally, 20 votes were rejected.
In the Bortianor Ngleshie Amafrom parliamentary primary, Sylvester Tetteh emerged as the winner with 590 votes, while Vida Agyekum Acheampong polled 461 votes, and Eric Kojo Kuranachie had 34 votes.
