With rumours and conversations ongoing about the effect of the change in name from telecommunications company, Vodafone to Telecel on the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, the Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, Robert Klah has assured fans of the awards scheme that an update on the name change would be given in due time.
Speaking with Doreen Avio on the Daybreak Hitz, he stated that the name would change depending on the terms of the contract with the headline sponsor.
He said, “It depends on the negotiations and details in the contract… There are different levels of the contract, and what the contract spells out is what you follow.”
He further encouraged fans to remain calm because even though the VGMA is registered in fans' minds, it isn’t the official name.
Mr. Klah again said that award nominations are still open till the 29th of February, 2024.
And unlike previous years where submissions are completed before the unsung awards; made to celebrate up-and-coming artistes who have made a name for themselves despite not having massive mainstream success, there will be a change this year.
“So for everybody out there within the space, the call is still out there, Feel free, to visit www.entry.ghana musicawrds.com and let your submissions go through. Submissions have come through from different, different quarters.
“But obviously, the doors are still open…we have a little over a month for submissions to be done and the deadline is 29th of February,“ he noted
“This year we are not finishing submissions before the unsung so the unsung would start pretty soon,” he added.
