The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has justified its decision to retain Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as running mate to the party's flagbearer in the December polls.
According to the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, their running mate has unquestionable credibility, and her track record shows that she can be trusted to deliver on her mandate should the party be given the nod.
Addressing a press conference on March 7, he said, “The difference she brings is simple. That if the people of Ghana in 2020 were not even sure at the time about the level of credibility she has – I think over the last four years in addition to the previous four of the NPP, they have seen the reason why it's critical to have an individual who above all can be trusted by the country.
“So the difference she brings is that she is absolutely somebody Ghana can trust.”
He argued that compared to the ruling party's flagbearer, Professor Opoku-Agyemang can step into the President’s shoes and make decisions that would be beneficial to the country.
Mr Kwetey emphasised that her records are clean and cannot be questioned.
“She is somebody who can step in when the President is not available and do that job knowing that she loves this country and she will do what is right and that is what we have constantly done for this country.
"We always present individuals who clear the mark of integrity, the mark of competence. We can’t say the same thing about our opponent especially if you see the one that they have presented. Both the driver and the mate absolute disaster, absolute liability in both of them," he added.
