Ghana's 4x100m relay team had to settle for a silver medal in the men's 4x100m relay final after a mix up in baton change handed the advantage to Nigeria, who claimed the gold.
The Ghanaians were favorite to defend their title, having run the fastest time in qualifying.
And they were well on course to doing so, following a brilliant first and second legs superbly executed by Edwin Gadayi and Benjamin Azamati respectively.
Solomon Hammond ran a decent bend to keep Ghana in the lead, but his baton changeover with anchor leg runner, Joseph Paul Amoah, allowed the Nigerians to take the lead.

And despite a menacing chase by Amoah, Itsikiri Utsheoritse, did just about enough to hold on for the win.
The Ghanaians would have been disappointed with the outcome, having only missed out on the gold medal by 200th of a second, with Nigeria finishing in 38.41s and Ghana in 38.43s.
The win is sweet revenge for Nigeria on two fronts, having been beaten to the title in 2019, and majorly, in 2003, when Nigeria hosted the event in Abuja.
Liberia's men followed the heroics of their female counterparts by also finishing on the podium, with Joseph Fahnbulleh anchoring them to a silver in new National Record of 38.73s.
