Ghana’s national team, the Black Challenge, have been crowned champions of the 2024 edition of the Amputee Africa Cup of Nations after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Morocco in Cairo.
The team conceded first but a penalty from Mohammed Mubarak restored parity.
The game saw end-to-end action, with Ghana’s goalkeeper making outstanding saves to keep the score levelled.
With no winner at the end of regulation time, the match proceeded to extra time.
Mubarak struck again early in extra time to give Ghana the lead for the first time in the game.
The Black Challenge held on to this lead, clinching the trophy at the end of extra time.
This victory in Cairo marks Ghana's successful defense of their title, having won the last edition in Tanzania.
Additionally, this win secures their spot at the 2026 World Amputee Football World Cup in Panama.
