The Ashanti Regional Zongo Youth Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is mobilising and organising to boost support and increase the party's chances of securing more votes in the region.
By bringing together young people from diverse Zongo Communities, and leveraging the current economic difficulties, the group is targeting over 30% of the votes in the traditionally NPP-dominated area.
During an event aimed at rallying Zongo Youth for victory in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Communication Officer for the Zongo Youth Caucus, Abdul Basit Yusha, expressed the youth's dedication and commitment to the party's cause, signalling a potential victory for the opposition.
Abdul Basit said that the caucus is tirelessly working to engage and mobilize individuals within the Zongo communities to support the party's success, while also urging restraint and calm to ensure peace and stability throughout the election period.

Former Vice Chairman and ex-Ambassador to Saudi Arabia under Mahama's administration, Alhaji Saeed Sinare, said that the Ashanti Region is a crucial battleground for the NDC in the forthcoming election, emphasising the need for swift mobilization.
He emphasized the importance of vigilant monitoring at polling stations to prevent potential electoral irregularities and asserted the NDC's commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.
Alhaji Sinare lambasted the incumbent Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government as inept, citing economic hardships, currency devaluation, soaring unemployment, and skyrocketing inflation as evidence of their failure.
Alhaji Sinare expressed optimism that the NDC would surpass the 30% mark in the Ashanti region, attributing this prediction to the perceived lackluster appeal of the NPP's ticket, comprising Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer and Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as running mate, suggesting that the NPP's leadership options may not resonate with voters.
