Nana Kweku Esieni V, the Regent of Agona Swedru has reiterated calls on political party supporters and leaders to desist from election violence and mayhem to ensure continued democratic governance.

According to the Chief, the country’s peace must not be exchanged for anything because of elections, adding that the chiefs and people of Agona Swedru and entire Agona West Municipality would not tolerate electoral violence in the December 7, polls.

Nana Esieni who is also Nifahene of Swedru made the remarks when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people to climax their annual Akwambo festival at Swedru in the Agona West Municipality of the Central region.

He admonished the supporters of all political parties, particularly, NPP and NDC in the Agona West and the entire country to conduct their campaigns in a decent manner devoid of insults and acrimony.

The Nifahene said the chiefs and elders of Agona West appreciated continued peace and freedom to aid eligible voters to cast their ballots on Election Day.

On infrastructure, the Regent commended the Akufo-Addo administration for the construction of Swedru town roads that had enhanced the easy transportation of goods and services.

He further praised the government for securing a World Bank facility for the construction of 180 lockable stores at the Swedru Mandela market for rapid trade and commerce.

The Regent renewed appeals to the government for the establishment of a technical and vocational training school to enable many BECE graduates to opt for technical and vocational skills.

In health, Nana Esien stated that the old X’RAY machine procured since the hospital was established decades ago, had broken down, compelling the majority of patients to travel to Winneba and other private facilities to seek X’RAY services.

He therefore appealed to the government and Ministry of Health to provide a brand-new x-ray machine for the Swedru Municipal Government Hospital to help patients have direct access to those services.

The Nifahene expressed gratitude to the Majority leader in Parliament, Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin for providing a new tender engine for Agona West Fire Service after the old one had broken down for more than nine months.
