The National Democratic Congress (NDC) plans to implement a weights and measurements system to ensure fairness for both consumers and sellers in Ghana.
According to the party's Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, this initiative is aimed at ensuring that consumers receive accurate quantities of goods, and farmers /sellers receive fair compensation.
Speaking in Ayensuano, Eastern Region, he explained that such a system is already in place in neighboring countries like Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, where it has helped prevent cheating between farmers and traders.
Under this plan, if former President Mahama takes office in 2025, weighing scales will be provided to markets across the country to ensure accurate measurements and corresponding market prices.
He said this move is not intended as a price control mechanism but rather to promote fairness in trade.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia has campaigning for the NDC in the Eastern region since Monday.
