FC Samartex began their Ghana Premier League title defence with a stalemate against Dreams FC on Saturday, September 7.
The Samreboi-based side were held to a goalless draw by Dreams at the Accra Sports Stadium in the opening game of the 2024/25 season.
There was very little to report from the first half of the opening fixture but it was Dreams who came close to breaking the deadlock just before recess.
Samartex goalkeeper Kofi Baah was forced into a good save from a setpiece just outside the penalty box with the goalie parrying the ball out for a corner kick.
The two teams went into the break with nothing separating them.
The 2023/24 league champions looked the threatening side after the break and threatened on several occasions early in the second half.
Despite their numerous attempts at goal, the Timber Giants were unable to unsettle the defence of the Still Believe lads.
Midfielder Collins Boah picked up a second yellow card in the 72nd minute and was sent off for the first red card of the season as Dreams finished the game with 10 men.
With a draw in their first game, Samartex will now turn their attention to their next game against Bibiani Gold Stars while Dreams will be on the road against new promoted Basake Holy Stars.
