Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that the party’s eighth position on the ballot will be their symbol of change to break the cycle of corruption.
She was emphatic that corruption has plagued the country under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
Addressing supporters in Ayinase in the Ellembelle Constituency during her campaign tour, she said, “The Women’s Development Bank is coming, the National Apprenticeship Programme is coming, and the NDC is also bringing you the Big Push to create jobs.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also urged voters to use Election Day to end the hunger, poverty, and high unemployment rates in the country.
Recalling the NDC’s time in government, she highlighted the party’s achievements in education, stating that under their leadership, students were guaranteed quality education and stability in the academic calendar.
“Despite all the rhetoric, secondary education has become costly, and parents are paying more,” she said.
The NDC running mate emphasized the need for a reset under John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, calling him a “hardworking and trusted leader with a solid record” who is capable of rebuilding Ghana after what she described as the NPP’s failure to manage the economy and repay loans.
She concluded, “Mr. Mahama built schools, hospitals, roads, and markets. He did it before, and he will do it again when elected.”
